Elbie House is a 16th Century Cotswold stone home nestled in an attractive rural village on the edge of the Cotswold's.  It was converted from a Coaching Inn, 7 years ago. Extensive restoration has created a warm, luxurious and inviting home.

The house is steeped in history and has great charm and character which is complimented by traditional landscaped gardens where gravel paths weave amongst shrubs, herbaceous plants, roses and a lavender garden, all of which has been lovingly restored by Mandy and Richard Buck who now take great pride in welcoming visitors.

Guests' comfort and enjoyment is paramount with a high priority to cleanliness, consideration for those with allergies. Impeccably furnished and  decorated to a very high standard using products exclusively from Relics of Witney. The beds all have firm Myers mattresses and crisp white cotton sheets, fluffy pillows + duvets under freshly laundered linen. Each spacious room has a beverage tray, iron and board, colour television and bath robes. A breakfast of local produce where possible, including free range eggs, homemade bread and preserves is provided in the dining area of your room or "al Fresco" on the patio if you prefer (weather permitting).  Special diets can be catered for with the minimum of fuss!

Accommodation

Elbie House has 3 rooms reserved for visitors which have their own private entrance allowing guests to come and go as they please.

The ground floor rooms have easy access. Rosewalk is a warm and welcoming room which overlooks the lavender garden. 

It has a pretty four poster bed, co-ordinated soft furnishings easy chair, television, fridge, bathroom with shower, additional bed and breakfast dining area, making it an ideal place for a romantic weekend away from it all.

The Valleyview first floor room is decorated with more of a Victorian feel with a iron bed and is en suite with bath.  It has a comfortable dining area, television, easy chairs and has lovely views of the gardens and farmed Blenheim Estate beyond.

Topiary is the most recent room to be available to guests it sits on the back ground floor corner of the house and has a small seating area + pebble fountain in the garden for guests to sit out and enjoy. The room has a lovely Italian iron bed and wooden floor, decorated with Laura Ashley fabrics. It is light and bright with a deep vaulted ceiling and remote Velux blind!

Attached is a white and ivory en suite bathroom with additional shower over.

The Family

Mandy and Richard are horse and dog lovers who enjoy rambling over the lovely country walks surrounding their home.

Mandy's love of gardening and keen eye for interior design and Richard's passion for building and restoration have combined to make this a special and unique place where many guests regularly come back to.

Access Statement for Elbie House

Elbie House lies mid-way between Witney and Wooodstock 0.5 miles off the A4095 in a small Hamlet called East End

Our two ensuite B & B rooms (“RoseWalk” and “Valley View”) are located in a separate purpose built wing of the house, accessed directly through the main front door, there is no requirement to enter main part of house to access the rooms.

Both have a view over the front garden and a large security lit parking area.

Nearest shop is Co-operative stores in Long Hanborough (1.8 Miles), where you will also find a Dentist, Post Office, Garage, Butcher, Hairdressers and Cycle shop.

Nearest Train Station - Long Hanborough or Charlbury (6 Miles).

Witney and Woodstock has a more comprehensive range of shops, both towns have  a swimming pool, Witney has a sports centre.

Parking

Guest parking is directly to the side of the house on tarmac and set back from the road and visible from each room. Car park is illuminated when vehicles enter.

Entrance to Elbie House is approached via a small (50mm / 2”) step to a brick path along the front of the house leading to a (150mm / 6”) step into the house.

Entrance  / Lobby

On entering the house we have a slate floor which leads onto our B & B accommodation.

Room details

Rosewalk – is located on ground floor, room measures approx 5.3 x 5.0mts and contains a 4’ / 6” inch double bed with bedside drawers either side of the bed both with table lamps and one clock radio

Room has three wall lights. Main light switch is located on the left hand wall as you

enter the room.  One loose covered easy chair with cushions and a dressing table and chair.

For back up heating there is a single oil filled radiator which sits in the corner.

A small silent conference fridge and hostess tray including a selection of beverages plus a dining table and two chairs.

Remote controlled television is mounted on a wall bracket located above beverage tray.

There is an under stairs cupboard which has a hanging rail and extra bedding if required.

Flooring is smooth painted and varnished floorboards, with bedside mats.

Accommodation facilities are well maintained to a high level of cleanliness..

Bathroom contains an electric shower switched on from outside the bathroom.

There is a basin, mirror and shaver point with light over.

WC and radiator with a thermostatic control for guests to operate as appropriate when heating is on.  Floor standing wooden towel rail and towel ring.  

Wooden flooring continues through from bedroom.

Valley View - is located through slate floored front lobby and up carpeted stairs, with handrail on left hand side, on to a wooden floored landing and bedroom beyond.

Main light switch is on the right hand-side wall as you enter the room and main room lighting consists of low voltage halogen down-lights.

The room measures 5.3 x 4.1 meters in size and consists of a 4’ 6” bed with bedside cupboards upon which there are switchable bedside lamps on either side.  There is one clock radio.

Bedside mats, two wicker easy chairs, wardrobe and chest of drawers plus a dining table and two chairs make up the furnishings of “Valley View”

Ensuite bathroom leads off bedroom and consists of a white bath, white tiling, WC and hand basin with mirror and shaver point.  Towel rail located on back of bathroom door and towel ring beside basin.

Flooring is painted and varnished wooden floorboards.

High priority to maintenance and cleanliness.
